Custom Comfort Sterling Silver finger picks are made exclusively for The Pick Shoppe, to exacting standards and will be identified by the "P S" engraving on each pick.
These picks are made by retired silversmith John Ellington from London, Ontario. He spent many years, working with banjo players, to perfect the design which now sets the standard for banjo fingerpicks in North America. Tone, comfort and durability are the minimum standards to which John works.
The picks are long-lasting. (I've had mine for over twenty years! and still use them each time I play.) As with all sterling silver, they need a periodic cleaning with silver polish to bring them back up to the normal lustrous finish and smooth feel.
The inside of the picks are embossed with a specially designed pattern which resists the pick coming off, even under the most trying circumstances. The blade curvature is designed to give perfect tone response and enhanced control for the player.
Picks for men, women and children! Our size ranges will cover all needs.
Available in Small, Medium and Large, you can refer to the chart below to determine your optimum size in either .020" or .025" pure sterling silver. If you're not sure which thickness to order, a general guideline is that most Scruggs style players prefer the .025", whereas melodic style players seem to prefer the .020".
Note: These Custom Comfort Sterling Silver Pick Shoppe finger picks are SOLD IN PAIRS. If you have different size requirements for the index and middle finger (as I do!), please note this in the comments section on your order. We'll be pleased to accomodate your specific needs.
Sizing your picks
Wrap your finger with masking tape as show in the photo to the right and make a mark across the tape as shown. Unwrap the tape from your finger and measure the distance between the pen marks. This is the measurement you can compare to the chart below for sizing. If both fingers are straight and relatively the same size, that's all you need to do.
Choose the pick sizes you require from the chart below. (I use a medium pick on my index finger, but a large on my middle finger, because those fingers are unequal in size.)
